East Central’s Krummen is the lone local advancing to state

New Castle/Evansville- A total of 37 local wrestlers qualified for semi-states Saturday- 34 at New Castle and three at Evansville.  Only one is advancing to the IHSAA state finals and that is East Central’s Kyle Krummen.

The 195 pound junior pinned Pendleton Heights’ Tremor Bynum in the opening round in 5:28, then won by a narrow 9-7 decision over Franklin Central’s Gavin Keesee to guarantee a trip to Indy.

Krummen was pinned in 1:03 in the semifinals to eventual semi-state champion, undefeated Silas Allred of Shenendoah. Krummen then lost 17-7 to Tipton’s KJ Roudebush to place fourth.

The state finals begin Friday, February 15 at Banker’s Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
