(VAR) Southwestern 3, Austin 2: 25-20, 25-18, 18-25, 19-25, 15-7

Edited Southwestern recap and reported stats from coach Chris Johnson: This was a rollercoaster.  We played pretty well the first and second sets.  We dug ourselves a hole in both early on but played good “team ball” to get back in it and win.  Austin really stepped up and made some good adjustments during the third set that we took too long to adapt to.

Our worst set, by far, was the fourth.  Our defense and serve reception broke down and our offense played too soft.  But I was very proud that my team didn’t give up, and they created a lot of momentum at the end of the fourth which propelled us into the fifth.  Kylie Eccles was nice to have back, returning from her concussion protocol.  She looked good at the net and was phenomenal from the serving line.  Parker Mefford played very well for the third straight match and Marissa Naylor was consistently solid for us as well.

Southwestern reported stats:

  • Kylie Eccles- 10 aces on 30 for 32 serving including the game winning ace, 11 kills on 32 for 34 hitting, and 14 digs
  • Marissa Naylor- 11 kills on 30 for 37 hitting, 2 aces on 11 for 14 serving, and 29 digs
  • Meaghan Kramer- 148 for 150 setting with 28 assists, 4 kills on 20 for 22 attacking, and 23 digs
  • Ashleigh Ream- 4 aces and 32 digs
  • Raygan Crawford- 3 kills on 6 for 7 hitting

(JV) Austin 2, Southwestern 0

Edited Southwestern recap from coach Bridget Skvara:  Jaden Davidson was 25 for 26 setting with 6 assists. Britt Inman was 6 for 7 serving with 3 aces. Riley Scroggins was 8 for 10 hitting with 3 kills.
