Volleyball Recaps from Wednesday, September 1

There may be updates, so please check back.

(VAR) Franklin County 3, Rushville 1 (home): 25-17, 25-21, 22-25, 25-23

Edited Franklin County recap and stats from coach Jill Mergenthal: The Lady Cats defeated EIAC rival Rushville in 4 sets. Again, we were playing roles on the court we had only been practicing for a week. It was when an unexpected injury occurred in set one that juniors Lauren Stacy and Stephanie Billman came in to play. Both played all-around and did a great job!  The team worked through obstacles that are only spoken of as a scenerio of “if this ever happens” or “always know how to play every position.”  We pulled through the game with more knowledge and respect of the game.

Franklin County reported stats:

  • Kassidy Schell- 2 aces, 14 kills, 1 solo block, 15 digs and 2 assists

Edited Rushville recap and stats from coach Nan Scanlan: The Lady Lions were beaten by Franklin County in an EIAC matchup 17-25, 21-25, 25-22 and 23-25. Olivia Yager highlighted the night for Rushville with 15 kills, 17 assists and 39 digs. Molly Zachery on defense had 17 serve receptions and 47 digs.

We started out slow, but as we got deeper into the match, our play got better. I don’t think I can say enough about Olivia Yager and what she brings to this team. She has immense talent, great leadership, and gives 110 percent every day. She is the glue who has taken this young team under her wings.
