(VAR) Charlestown 3, Southwestern 2: 23-25, 25-20, 28-26, 10-25, 15-12

Edited Southwestern recap and stats from coach Chris Johnson: I thought the difference in the game was ball control and mental mistakes. We had more mental errors and had less ball control than Charlestown.  I think had we played our best game, we would have won in three sets, but we really didn’t have it all together.  Some of that is due to just coming back from massive covid layoffs and not playing at all last week.

It was good we were back on the court getting a chance to play, and we had some individual efforts that excelled. Marissa Naylor was our rock.  She led the way offensively both hitting and from the serving line. She played clean on defense and stayed aggressive the whole match.  Ashleigh Ream and Parker Mefford did a great job stepping up and keeping our back row play consistent.  As a team, we had 54 errors, and with that many mistakes, you are not going to beat very many teams.  I still think we played well enough to win had we shaved just two or three of those mistakes off each set. Southwestern is currently 4-2

  • Marissa Naylor- 11 kills on 29 for 35 hitting, 5 aces on 21 for 23 serving, 20 digs on 19 for 20 passing
  • Elle Ford- 10 kills on 32 for 36 hitting
  • Riley Scroggins- 8 kills on 25 for 28 hitting
  • Emma Long- 14 for 14 serving with 2 aces, 4 kills
  • Meaghan Kramer- 133 for 133 setting with 35 assists, 2 aces on 18 for 18 serving, 21 digs
