The two EIAC foes met twice during the regular season.  Batesville won the early conference match rather easily in three games but Connersville proved to be a greater challenge at the Franklin Tournament before falling in two sets.

Even at 3-3 in game one, coach Kateri Paul’s Bulldogs went on a 7-1 run to go up 10-4.  Coach Stephanie Smith’s Spartans fought back three different times to make it close but were eventually turned away by the Dogs on each occasion.  BHS won 25-22.

In game two, the set swung in Batesville’s favor during a 10-3 spurt which put them up 17-6.  Connersville cut the deficit to six at 22-16 but the Bulldogs booked the final three points to win 25-16.

A 9-1 run by the Bulldogs gave Batesville early control of the final set.  The Spartans got within five but never really threatened.  Batesville capped the evening with a 25-17 victory in the third stanza.

Our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Players of the Match were Batesville’s setting tandem of Kylie Laker and Cayman Werner.  In addition to setting up the Bulldog offensive attack with a combined 36 assists, Laker logged 10 kills and two aces while Werner recorded seven kills, three aces and two total blocks.

In the loss for Connersville, Erika Smith led the Spartans with 10 kills and four total blocks.
