South Ripley reported stat leaders from coach Lisa Gilpin:

  • Katelyn Samples- 4 aces
  • Brionna Linkel- 4 aces, 11 digs, 30 assists
  • Lydia Koger- 11 digs
  • Alexah Heidt- 12 receptions and 0 errors
  • Rachel Meyer- 33 attacks, 19 kills, 4 blocks, 15 receptions
  • Sarah Meyer- 35 attacks, 15 kills, 3 blocks

Edited report and stats from Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz:  I was concerned about how we would react since we had not played in nine days. As competitive as we made the practices over the last week and a half, there is no real way to simulate match play in practice. We were slow to get to balls and our serve receive was off. This group has made tremendous strides. While this loss was a bit of a mental setback for them, it’s also a valuable teaching moment. We look forward to picking ourselves back up and finishing this season on a positive note.

  • Serving- Emma Newhart 14/14-1 ace, Shaylee Volz 11/12-1 Ace, Marie Gohr 6/6-1 Ace
  • Serve Receive- Volz 15/15, Aundrea Cullen 30/33-
  • Hitting- Newhart 20/20-3 kills, Volz 15/24-5 kills, McKenzy Gray 17/25-5 kills, Desiree Sparks 12/18-4 kills
  • Blocking- Sparks- 2 solo and 2 assist, Gray Assist 3 assist
  • Setting- Newhart 64/65-13 assists, Katelyn Wagner 27/27- 7 assists
  • Digging- Cullen 15, Volz 15, Gray 11

(V) Greensburg 3, Hauser 0 (home)

GB  25  25  25
HA  20  21  14

Edited report and stats from Greenburg coach June Rigney: After a long break, Greensburg got back in action and beat a solid Hauser team.  It was great to compete again. Although we started out a bit slow, we definitely made adjustments and played well.

Strong serving came from Hannah Messer who was 21-21, Josie Nobbe was 13-13, and Kayla Kelso was 12-13. Offensively, Anna West put down 18 kills followed by Nobbe with 12. Defensively, Hannah Messer defended 15 hits while Nobbe picked up 14 and Taylor Cooney managed our offensive effectively with 30 assists.

This was a successful match due to many things not on a stat sheet. Our blocking helped us tremendously. Ella Chapman, West, Nobbe, Maria Fogg, Carlee Adams, and Cooney did a great job either completely blocking their hits or slowing the ball down for us to defend. Along with that, we just played scrappy defense to lengthen points and finally run our offense. Hauser is always known for great serve reception and defense. They were strong again, but we had enough offense to take them out of system.

We thank everyone at each school for contributions to the recaps.
