GB  25  25  25
MA  21  19  12

Edited match report from Greensburg coach June Rigney: Greensburg moved to 10-0 defeating Madison. There was some entertaining volleyball played. Madison is a very solid defensive team and forces you to run your offense one more time to win the point. We improved as the match progressed and decreased our errors which resulted in a quality third game for us. Serving well for us was Hannah Messer who was perfect from the line at 16-16. Josie Nobbe was 11-12 serving 2 aces, and Kayla Kelso was 17-19 serving 3 aces. Anna West had 17 kills followed by Josie Nobbe with 11, and Ella Chapman with 7. Taylor Cooney moved the ball across the net making sound choices for execution and she put up 33 assists.  Defensively, Hannah Messer had 14 digs. I was pleased with the adjustments we made.

Milan 3, Jac-Cen-Del 2 (home)

MI  25  26  22  16  15
JCD 13  24  25  25  09

Edited match report from Milan coach Gayle Healy (includes combined stats from the Switz match from September 1): Senior middle hitter Karly Sargent had 15 kills and 7 blocks.  Senior outside hitter Sophie Thomas had 13 kills, 5 aces, 91% serving, 30 digs, and 5 kill assists.

Edited match report from Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz:  The Eagles started off extremely slow and the first set scores showed. After fighting back from being down 0-2, they lost the match in the fifth set.  We continue to have slow starts which hurts us in the long run. Once the kids start playing faster, they play to their ability and we are able to win sets.

We never were able to pick the pace up in the first set and lost big. In the second set, it took us about half the game to catch up.  Once we did, we just couldn’t get over the hump. The third and fourth sets were when we finally woke up and pulled out two wins.  Our slow start in the fifth got us again and we just ran out of time.  I was really proud of our kids.  They didn’t fold and kept fighting to give us a chance to win in the end.

Jac-Cen-Del reported stats:

  • Serving- Aundrea Cullen 28/30 with 4 aces, Desiree Sparks 12/14 with 4 aces, Emma Newhart 13/13
  • Serve Receive- Aundrea Cullen 42/46, Shaylee Volz 18/21, McKenzy Gray 16/19
  • Hitting- Volz 25/34 with 9 kills, Emma Newhart 27/30 with 8 kills, Gray 35/39 with 8 kills
  • Blocking- Sparks 1 solo and 3 assists, Gray 3 assists
  • Digs- Volz 27, Cullen 22, Newhart 18
  • Setting- Newhart 69/70 with 19 assists, Katelyn Wagner 53/56 with 10 assist

We thank everyone from each school who contributed to the recaps.
