Edited match report from Southwestern coach Chris Johnson: It was a rough one for our squad.  We didn’t really have anyone who had a great game. It seemed everyone was just a little out of sorts. Elle Ford had 7 kills. Autumn Harmon had 4 kills, 1 block, and was 13 for 15 serving. Ashleigh Ream was 24 for 25 passing with 25 digs.

North Decatur 3, Jac-Cen-Del 1 (home)

ND  25  12  25  25
JCD 17  25  18  21

Edited match report from Jac-Cen-Del coach Cat Schmeltz: We had spurts of fantastic volleyball. We were being smart, finding holes in the defense, hitting good balls, passing and setting well. There were also sections where we struggled to put all the skills together. We didn’t make good decisions about where we sent the ball and some mental mistakes where balls were dropping between players. We are getting to the point in the season where the mental mistakes have to be cleaned up in order to pick up more wins. Overall, this year’s group has much more confidence and this has shown in several of our close games. We need to continue to work on taking control of close games.

Jac-Cen-Del reported stats: serving- McKenzy Gray 20/22 and 4 aces, Emma Newhart 12/12 and 3 aces, Shaylee Volz 10/11 and 2 aces; serve receive- Aundrea Cullen 25/27 and 2.22 rating, Volz 18/20 and 1.65 rating; hitting- Volz 22/32 and 10 kills, Desiree Sparks 16/22 and 5 kills, Gray 11/14 and 3 kills; blocking- Gray 1 solo and 1 assist, Desiree Sparks 1 solo and 1 assist; digs- Cullen 27, Emma Newhart 17; setting- Katelyn Wagner 37/38 with 9 assists, Newhart 50/50 with 8 assists.

New Palestine 3 (home), East Central 1

NP  25  25  20  25
EC  20  22  25  15

Edited match recap from East Central coach Cassie Laker:  The game was great! After an unimpressive performance Monday, the girls bounced back and played their best volleyball of the season against a very disciplined and competitive New Pal team. They worked together and played as a team. The amount of heart and grit on the court was a welcomed change. Even without the win, this performance set the bar from this point forward. Our passing was spot on which gave us a lot of options offensively. I’m very proud of this group and look forward to seeing what they continue to do this year.

East Central top stat leaders:

  • Aces- Emma Ertel 5 (19/20 serving)
  • Kills- Jessie Stenger 11 (15/20 attacks)
  • Assists- ALlison Huismann 19 (45 sets)
  • Serve Receive- Ertel 27/28
  • Total Blocks- Stenger 4
  • Digs- Hope Fox, Laney Baker 17 each

We thank everyone from each school who contributed to the recaps.
