Connersville’s Jeff Cooley- The Junior Varsity track and field team competed in the Junior Varsity conference meet on Saturday. There was no team score kept but both teams did very well. Top finishers for the girls were : Makayls Strong first in the long jump 5th in the 100 3rd in the 400 Hailey Sembach first in the high jump and first in the 400 Makayla Richmond 5th in the 400. Chloe Griffin first in the 300 hurdles and second in the 100 hurdles. Kendall Creech 3rd in the long jump.

For the boys top placers were: Dakota Reibsomer 4th in the 100and 5th in the long jump Logen Jordan was 5th in the 100 and second in long jump Cyle Siefert was 8thin the 100 and 4th in the long jump Grant Lewis was 8th in the 400 Nate Reynolds was 4th in the 3200.Keaton Oakley was 6th in the 110 hurdles and 2nd in the 300 hurdles The 4×100 team was 2nd (Jorden Siefert Oakley Riebsomer) Austin Lancaster was first in the discus. Brayden Jones 2nd in high jump 5th in pole vault.Jeremiah Buchanan 7th in long jump. This was the last meet for the Junior Varsity.

Batesville’s Lisa Gausman- The Batesville JV track team finished out their 2021 season on Saturday as they competed in EIAC meet at South Dearborn. Although this meet was not scored for team results, the top 8 places were honored in each event. The Bulldogs took home several awards including 7 conference champions with multiple event winners and 6 runner ups with several multiple winners. Also, you will find a good group of personal records broken to finish out the season.

Rushville’s Jim Marlatt- The Rushville boys track and field team sent their reserve athletes to South Dearborn on Saturday morning to compete in the EIAC Reserve meet. The athletes enjoyed fantastic weather and competed very well. No team scores were kept, but there were plenty of excellent individual performances.

On the track, the 4×800 team of Heath Barada, Jonathan Starke, Shepard Cupp, and Tuff Tackett finished in 4th place with a time of 9:56. Caleb Rector placed 2nd overall in the 110m hurdles with a time of 19.74 with Ashton Reece placing 8th (season best) and Brian Simmermon 11th. In the 100, Ashton Hammond and Chase Woolf placed 12th and 13th with times of 12.65 and 12.68 with Benjamin Means also competing in the event. Ryan Schindler and Sam Sterrett finished 4th and 11th in the 1600 with times of 5:03 (season best) and 5:27. The 4×100 team of Hammond, Woolf, Means, and Nick Amos finished in 5th place with a time of 50.45. In the 400, Sam Barada came in 4th place with a time of 57.28 (season best). Rector returned to finish 1st in the 300m hurdles with a season best time of 46.42 with Reece and Simmermon coming in 5th and 8th. Jonathan Starke ran a season best in the 800 to finish 4th overall in 2:21 with H.Barada and Cupp also running well in the event. Hammond and Woolf came in 6th and 10th in the 200 with times of 24.97 and 25.50 with Means and Aedan Muench-Bender also competing. Ryan Schindler took 1st overall in the 3200 with a time of 11:30 with Sam Sterrett coming in 3rd with a time of 12:22. And the 4×400 team of Rector, Cupp, Starke, and S.Barada placed 4th overall with a time of 4:12.

In the field, Nick Pavey finished 13th in the discus with a season best throw of 91’1″ with Austin Vance taking 16th, Nick Amos 19th, Bryton Grizzell 22nd, Dominick Evans 32nd and Shepard Cupp 36th. In the shot put, Vance placed 3rd overall with a distance of 39’7.5″ with Pavey placing 13th, and Grizzell 24th. In the long jump, Nick Amos came in 17th place with a jump of 14’2″ and Aedan Muench-Bender came in 21st overall with a jump of 11’1.5″. And in the pole vault, Jacob Hampton finished 3rd with a season best height of 9’6″ with Kavan Hay, Nick Amos, and Muench-Bender also competing well.

“Today was a great opportunity for our reserve athletes to be able to compete in a large meet. Most of the reserve athletes are Freshmen and Sophomores who will be asked to step up to larger roles as Juniors and Seniors. This is a great experience for them and it also helps build their confidence. I am pleased with the results today and the future of the RCHS track team appears to be bright.”

Rushville’s Hannah Augsburger-  The Lady Lions JV Track & Field traveled to South Dearborn for the EIAC reserve conference. The weather was gorgeous on Saturday, the girls competed well, and with no team score, there are plenty of performances to celebrate.

In the pole vault, Annie Hadley cleared 5’6 placing 6th. In the shot put Addison Ballanger and Anne Thoman dominated the pit taking both 1st and 2nd for the day. The girls threw the same distance of 30’5 and their second-best throw was taken as a placing. Anne Thoman won the discus event with a 93’3 and Addison Ballenger also competed throwing 71’11. On the track, the 4x400M team of Morris, Hankins, Lawrence, and Ripberger finished in 4th with a time of 5:46.48. Madison Hankins, Meredith Lawrence, and Lanea Adams competed in the 800M run with a finishing time of 3:05, 3:16, and 3:23. In the 300M and 100M hurdles, Katie Ripberger placed 3rd and 5th overall with a time of 1:02 and 22.15. In the 100M dash, Lexi Morris finished with a time of 15.14. The 4x800M relay team of Norvell, Lawrence, Hankins, and Adams finished 2nd with a time of 13:04.

“Today was a great opportunity for the reserves to compete and get the chance to see their competition in the future. The girls did a fantastic job today competing. They had fun and competed well.”
