East Central at Harrison’s (OH) Wildcat Opener

Edited recap from East Central coach Ashley Andres- I want to give a huge shout out to coach Daugherty for taking these guys to this meet over spring break I’m so grateful they were able to compete in that perfect weather. Thank you coach. We appreciate you so much!

It was a beautiful day for our first outdoor track meet. Our entire team didn’t compete due to being on spring break, but those who did put down some awesome marks. We went to the Wildcat Opener at Harrison High School.
Leo Maxwell had a great opener. He dominated the shot put with a heave of 56’1″! Just to give you some perspective, this would have placed 2nd at the Indiana state track meet in 2019. Leo has his eyes set on the school record of 59’3.75″ set in 1988 by state champion Mark Parris.

Leo’s hard work continued to pay off when he launched a new school record in the discus with a mark of 164’7″! The former school record was 160’2″ set in 2011 by coach Steve Medlock. This mark would have placed 3rd at the Indiana state track meet in 2019. Way to go Leo!

We are so proud of Leo. He works hard every single day and we’re so excited to see the hard work pay off. This guy is just getting started!

I told our team to be grateful for the opportunity to compete. Don’t take any meet for granted. Compete like it’s your only meet. Parker Flemming did just that by setting a new PR in the high jump with 5’6″ and in the pole vault with 11′. Congratulations Parker!

Brayden Combs had his high school debut with a personal best in the 100m dash. He ran 11.86. Congratulations Brayden!

Senior Ellie Lengerich had some heptathlon fun. She got a PR in the high jump with 5’4″! She tossed the shot 27’5.5″. Not bad after 2 days of shot put practice. She ran a 26.88 and finished 2nd out of 66 girls! She placed 7th in the 100m hurdles after 2 days of hurdle practice. I’m so proud of Ellie!
