Franklin County Senior Profile- Katelyn Meyer

With the cancellation of the spring sports season, 12th grade spring sports athletes will not get to have their Senior Night.  We wanted to give those athletes a chance to share their Senior Night profiles typically read at such events.  While this can never replace Senior Night itself, at least we can help celebrate our local seniors by sharing their information with you.

Any spring sports senior who would like to have their Senior Night profile shared, please email it to bryce@seilocalsports.com and we will publish it under their spring sport.

Sports and other activities at FCHS- Track and Field and cross country.

Post graduation plans- I plan on working over the summer to build up my savings as much as I can for college and spend time with my friends and family. Starting this fall, I am going to attend Ball State University and major in exercise science and physical therapy. In the end, I want to be a part of a job I love, get married, start a family of my own, and live in a nice house on a big piece of land.

Favorite track memory- From last year’s conference, me and my 4×100 relay team, Anna Schatzle, Ashlan Hill, and Audrey Reister, had been practicing our relay for days. Conference was coming up quickly and we wanted to finally beat East Central and Batesville. The day came and me and my rival competitors, Ava Grim and Stephanie Nobbe, were all three the last legs for our relay race. All of us jogging in our lanes to our written spots with the sun setting felt unreal. As soon as we were ready, the gun went off and the relay began. Anna had us in the lead, then to Ashlan, then to Audrey and East Central was coming up right beside us. Audrey passed it to me, seconds before East Central handed off. East Central fought hard to break the gap between them and us, but it was too late. FC took the win and we finally beat EC!

What will be missed most from the season being cancelled- I am going to miss all of our practices and long meet nights together as a team. I am especially going to miss this season in general. We would have done amazing things together as a team and I just wish I could have known what it was going to be exactly.

Thank yous-  I want to thank all of the educators who have guided me, all of the coaches who have pushed me and my parents and family who have greatly supported me.

A message from FCHS track coach Joe Davidson- Katelyn is what we describe in track and field as a unicorn.  She was our best sprinter, our best long sprinter and one of our best distance athletes.  Based on my records, she is the only athlete in FC history to scores points in ALL 13 of the running events.  That’s the 100m dash all the way up to the 3200m dash.  And she hurdled middle school so she could have done that too.  I am going to miss her enthusiasm and her killer instinct.
