Rushville competes at the Owl Invitational

Varsity Indoor Track, Owl Invitational hosted by Muncie Burris at Ball State University in Muncie- Saturday, March 7

Unedited report from Rushville coach Jim Marlatt-  The Rushville boys and girls track teams traveled to Muncie on Saturday to compete in the Owl Invitational hosted by Muncie Burris and held at Ball State University. The indoor meet was a great opportunity for the Lions and Lady Lions to compete and kickoff what looks to be a very promising season.

For the Rushville girls, throwers Katie Tabeling and Isabella Runnebohm finished 2nd and 3rd overall in the shot put with distances of 31’3″ and 30’7″. Cyndi Tush finished 2nd in the pole vault clearing 7’0″ with Haley Rode and Audrey Gettinger also competing in the event. In the long jump, Sarah Warner finished 12th with a jump of 13’0″ with Summer Stanley and Indya Burnett finishing 16th and 17th with distances of 11’6″ and 10’8″.
In the running events, Maddi Turner took 2nd in the 60m hurdles with a time of 10.47. Turner also finished 6th in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.73 with Warner, Burnett, and Macenzie Cochran finishing 19th, 22nd, and 32nd with times of 9.22, 9.31, and 10.15. The 4×200 team and Warner, Cochran, Gettinger, and Rode finished 8th overall with a time of 2:12. The Distance Medley Relay team of Stanley, Gettinger, Tush, and Olivia Wehr finished in 4th place with a time of 16:14. And the 4×400 team of Wehr, Burnett, Tush, and Turner finished 2nd with a time of 4:49.
For the Lions, John King and Nick Bowling finished 2nd and 3rd in the pole vault by clearing heights of 11’6″ and 10’0″. Nick Lawler finished 6th in the shot put with a distance of 42’0″ with Nick Amos finishing 25th with a distance of 21’11”. In the long jump, Tristan Norris finished 7th overall with a distance of 18’1″ with Casey Smith and Colton Griffith finishing 8th and 9th with distances of 17’7″ and 17’5.5″.
In the running events, Caleb Krodel and Sam Sterrett finished 5th and 8th in the 3200 with times of 11:08 and 11:16. Brian Simmermon finished 11th in the 60m hurdles with a time of 12.88. In the 60 meter dash, Jayden Roosa and Griffith finished 11th and 13th with times of 7.78 and 7.83. Seth Wood and Ashton Hammond finished 18th and 21st with times of 7.90 and 8.03 with Norris coming in 23rd in 8.11. The 4×800 team of Cole Dixon, Kyle Stanley, Keith Bacon, and Ethan Chastain finished in 3rd place with a time of 9:19 while the team of Pablo Ruiz, Tuff Tackett, Jonathan Starke, and John King came in 8th place with a time of 10:42. In the 4×200, the team of Wood, Roosa, Griffith, and Smith finished 3rd with a time of 1:43 with the team of Norris, Trenton Dyer, Simmermon, and Hammond finished 10th with at iem of 1:50. The Distance Medley Relay team of Dixon, Chastain, Bacon, and Stanley took 1st place with a time of 12:22. And in the 4×400 the team of Norris, Dyer, Ruiz, and Hammond finished 3rd overall with a time of 4:11.
“Today was a great start of the season for the Rushville teams. After weeks of training it was nice to be able to compete and give our kids the opportunity go against other schools. We have a large number of new athletes this year and I thought everyone looked pretty good. I am looking forward to watching these teams develop from here, I think they both have potential to have excellent seasons.”
