Rushville Boys 5th, Connersville 6th at Cougar Chase Invite

The following is an unedited report from Rushville Boys coach James Marlatt:

The meet provided a great atmosphere for a final tune-up before the Conference and Sectional meets begin.

The Lions finished 5th in the 8 team field. Danville won the team championship with a score of 111.5 followed by Greenwood-106, Roncalli-104, Franklin Community-103, Rushville-70, Connersville-69, Greenfield-Central-62, and Frankton-36.5. The Rushville boys season record now stands at 14-10.

Senior Trey Cain took 1st overall in the 100 with a time of 11.67 with freshman Tyreke Carr finishing 11th in the event. Carr placed 8th overall in the 200 with a time of 25.04. Adam Bousman and Carter Tague finished 13th and 14th in the 400 with times of 59.60 and 1:04. In the 800, Ethan Chastain placed 7th running a 2:08 while Keith Bacon finished 18th with a season-best time of 2:19. Freshman Kyle Stanley set a new season best in the 1600 coming in 6th place with a time of 4:49 while Caleb Krodel and Nick Innis also ran their season-best times of 4:57 and 5:05 respectively. In the 3200, Cole Dixon and Stanley finished 5th and 6th with times of 10:33 and 10:35 (season-best). Krodel also set a season-best time in the event finishing 14th in 10:55. In the hurdle races, Keith Hallgarth took 3rd in the 110s with a time of 16.92 with Kanyon Keith coming in 11th. Hallgarth was 2nd in the 300s running a season-best time of 42.24 with Austen Gerrian scoring in 7th place with a time of 46.29.

In the relays, the 4×100 team of Carr, Colton Griffith, Casey Smith, and Cain finished 4th with a time of 46.63. The 4×200 team of Carr, Tague, C.Smith, and Cain set a season-best time of 1:35.45. The 4×400 team of Chastain, Connor Hay, Bousman, and Tague took 6th place with a time of 3:45. And the 4×800 team of Dixon, Innis, Isaac Lawrence, and Chastain finished 7th overall with a time of 8:59.

In the field events, Nick Lawler set a new season-best in the discus finishing 2nd overall with a throw of 121’10”. Joe Sheehan also threw a season-best of 104’7″ to finish 10th and Casey Smith threw 102’0″ to take 12th. Lawler also scored in the shot put taking 8th place with a season-best throw of 39’7.25.” Ethan Zeisloft also threw a season-best of 38’10” to take 8th and David Walker threw 32’9.5″ to finish 19th. Carter Tague finished 4th overall in the long jump with a distance of 18’5.5″ with Austen Gerrian and Colton Griffith finishing 11th and 12th with distances of 17’9″ and 17′.25″ respectively. In the pole vault, Keith Hallgarth took 4th place clearing 12’6″. John King scored in 7th place clearing 11’0″ with Nick Bowling coming in 9th clearing 9’6″. And in the high jump, Gerrian and Bowling tied for a 12th place both clearing 5’4″.
