Meet comments from Batesville head coach Lisa Gausman: As many sports were cancelling their competitions last night, the Ripley County Track Teams decided to go for it.  It ended up being an almost perfect night for a track meet.  As the rain and thick air moved out, the temperatures and wind conditions were perfect and many track athletes took advantage of it as many county records were broken last night and personal records achieved. The Batesville Bulldogs came away with two huge victories.

Ripley County also gives an MVP award for the night to the person who scores the most points for their team.  The Bulldogs got to honor Stephanie Nobbe for this award.  This is Stephanie 3rd time winning the Ripley County MVP for track.  Her sophomore year the meet was canceled because of the weather so they didn’t have it, making her win this award every year of her high school career.  Way to go Stephanie!

As mentioned earlier, there were several meet records broken with some of them being by a Bulldog.

Starting off the night was the girls 4 x 800m relay who set a new meet record racing through at 10:14.50 breaking a 2012 record also held by Batesville (10:21.53)  Members of the relay are: Liz Loichinger, Lily Pinckley, Trysta Vierling, and Katie Olsen

800m dash, formally held by Emma Gausman last year with 2:31.12 was crushed by Batesville’s Katie Olsen who ran 2:21.94.

South Ripley’s Megan Cole broke both of her former records in both the 1600 and the 3200 running 5:17.69 and 11:16.72 respectively.

On the boy’s side, Milan’s Peyton Cavins broke the 100m dash record with a time of 11.18.

Batesville’s Adam Moster crushed the 800m run record that was held by Hayden Merkel in 2012 (2:01.25) as he ran an incredible 1:56.62!

Joshua Myers also broke a Hayden Merkel record by a little over 3 seconds (4:38) as he came across the line in 4:34.91.

Other local coaches’ comments will be added when received.

We thank coach Gausman for the report.
