Tournament run ends for local athletes in state finals prelims

Indianapolis- A select few East Central and Connersville athletes qualified for the IHSAA Boys’ Swimming and Diving State Championships at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.

On Friday, the journey ended in the prelims for the Trojan swimmers.

EC’s 200 Medley Relay of Nick Weber, Jackson Ketcham, Matthew Badinghaus and Owen Matthew placed 28th with a time of 1:40.05

Ketcham competed in two other individual events taking 26th in both. His 200 Free time was 1:46.28 while his 500 Free mark was 4:49.54.  Weber also swam the 50 Free and took 26th with a time of 21.70.

The diving prelims were Saturday morning.  East Central’s John Crawley was 25th scoring 158.5 points while Connersville’s Quinton Jones finished 29th with 155.7 points.

Carmel won the boys’ team title to make at a state championship sweep for the Greyhound Swimming and Diving program.  Carmel scored 331 points.  Munster was a distant second at 183.
