Hall breaks record, places 12th at state finals

Indianapolis- A record setting season for East Central’s Kyra Hall was capped with a 12th place finish in the 100 Back at Saturday’s IHSAA Girls’ Swimming and Diving State Championships.  The state finals were held at IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.

The EC junior who won the 100 Back at the Columbus North Sectional with a school record time of 57.64, broke her own school record during Friday’s prelims with a mark of 57.06.  She returned Saturday to post a mark of 57.26 and place 12th.

In case anyone really needed to ask, Carmel won its 34th consecutive girls’ state team championship.  This is a national record in any sport or gender.  They Greyhounds 426.5 points were fourth most in tournament history and more than doubled the 208 of second place Fishers.

Boys sectional prelims are Thursday, February 20 and the finals are Saturday, February 22.
