Edited recap and Franklin County top performers from Alex McCool- Franklin County secured a spot in the sectional semifinals when they defeated Lawrenceburg 8-4.

The Wildcats used a big 5-run second inning to take an early 5-0 lead. From there, they extended the lead to eight and held off a late Tiger rally to pick up the victory.

The Wildcats put the ball in play hard throughout the game and outhit the Tigers 10-4. Kiersten Schell led the way for the Wildcats with three hits while Camryn Brewer and Kassidy Schell each had two.

Franklin County also had great pitching from their starting pitcher, KK Ferman. She pitched all seven innings, striking out 12, and did not allow a base runner until the fifth inning.

The Wildcats record now sits at 17-13, and they advance in Sectional 29 to face Greensburg. Franklin County is 1-1 against the Pirates this and it should be a great game on Thursday in Connersville at 6 PM.

Edited recap from Batesville’s Randy Obermeyer- The Bulldogs were down 3-1 in the top of the seventh when Paige Oldham hit a bases clearing, 3 RBI triple.  She also knocked in Batesville’s other run in the third.

Emma Belter led the Bulldogs with three of the team’s eight hits. Margaret Wilson and Oldham had two each.

Oldham pitched a complete game for the win with 8 strikeouts while surrendering 3 runs on 5 hits with 5 walks and 1 hit batter.
