Franklin County Senior Profile- Makaylee Woods

With the cancellation of the spring sports season, 12th grade spring sports athletes will not get to have their Senior Night.  We wanted to give those athletes a chance to share their Senior Night profiles typically read at such events.  While this can never replace Senior Night itself, at least we can help celebrate our local seniors by sharing their information with you.

Any spring sports senior who would like to have their Senior Night profile shared, please email it to and we will publish it under their spring sport.

Favorite softball memory- My favorite moment from my softball career was probably winning sectionals during my sophomore year. It was such an amazing feeling to achieve something the team had worked so hard all season for. I’ll never forget looking around and seeing how happy and excited my teammates were at the end of the game. We celebrated by dumping water on our coaches and taking a ton of pictures with the trophy. It felt like an experience out of a movie. The community was also very supportive of our big win which made it all the better.

What will be missed most from the season being cancelled-  Most of all, I think I’ll miss playing the game I’ve loved since such a young age. Softball was always the one constant when everything else around me was uncertain. I’ll miss the game itself for sure but I will also miss the bonds that would’ve been created on the field with my teammates and all the laughs, obnoxiousness and the screaming in the dugout that would’ve occurred throughout the season. I’ll miss the feeling of winning a close game, barely being safe after sliding into the bag, the way the ball feels when it comes off the sweet spot of the bat, the perfect play that gets the last out and, most of all, the memories I would’ve made with an unforgettable team.

Thank yous- I want to thank my parents for always supporting me on and off the field. I also want to thank all of the family members and friends that attended games to watch me play. I would also like to thank every single coach I had the opportunity to play for, because without everyone of them teaching me something, I would have never become the softball player I am today. Finally I’d like to give a special thanks to every coach I’ve played for in high school. The time and effort you put into the softball program does not go unnoticed. Thank you for believing in me and teaching me how to be a great softball player, teammate and leader.

A message from FCHS softball coach Alex McCool- Makaylee is one of the smartest players we’ve ever had in our program. She is very detail oriented and always puts her entire effort into everything she does, whether on the field or in the classroom. She is going to go on and do great things in her future. She will be missed.
