2020 Rushville Softball Outlook from Amanda Norris

Prior to the start of any season, there is always an air of hope and optimism by coaches and players.  Unfortunately, that hope and optimism for the spring sports season was dashed for everyone with its cancellation due to COVID-19.

But we asked coaches to share with us what they were looking forward to: team outlook, individual hopes and expectations or anything else about the season in general.  We’ll be sharing those stories as we receive them and we appreciate those who took the time to send us their thoughts.

Rushville coach Amanda Norris- With only having one week of practice under our belt, it’s hard for me to pinpoint individuals to provide comments about specific players. However, I can tell you with just one week of practice, it was obvious this season we would have one of the best defensive teams we have had in a long time.

The freshman class came in strong with kids working to fill several open positions. All the athletes showed progress in just one week, whether it be in terms of conditioning, throwing mechanics or hitting technique. The beginning of the season is always exciting, but the Lady Lions showed tremendous promise this year.  The team was just getting into the swing of things, the off-season repetitions paying off, the bonds of teammates being formed, the excitement surrounding the season rising.

To say we are devastated is an understatement. To our 2020 seniors, Zoey Clemmons and Olivia Mohler, thank you. This is not the way you envisioned your final season, but thank you for all you’ve given the Lady Lion softball program.
