Rising Sun 13, Southwestern 0; Shiners win ORVC outright

Varsity Softball at Rising Sun- Tuesday May 14

Rising Sun 13, Southwestern 0 (ORVC game, 5 inn)

  • SW 0  0  0  0  0 – 0R 6H 2E
  • RS  0  2  6  5  X – 13R 15H 0E

Rising Sun’s Bryce Kendrick:

Sydney Bostic went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.  Defensively, she had 2 assists including catching a runner attempting to steal.

Cora Poling homered and singled with 2 RBI and was part of a double play with Lindsay Montgomery and Tyrrah Miller.  Kassidy Romans singled, doubled and tripled with an RBI.  Emma Levi doubled once and singled twice with a pair of ribbies. Lucy Phelps had 2 hits and 1 RBI while Montgomery tripled and batted in 3 runs.

Sydney Pitts threw a complete game shutout with 6 strikeouts while allowing just 6 hits and no walks.

This game resumed in the top of the third after rain suspended play on May 1.  It was good to string several hits together in our first turn at the plate.  The win gave the Shiners the outright ORVC championship (11-0) with still one conference game to play.

Southwestern’s Duane Ralston:

  • Lakyn Wilson 2-2
  • Olivia Bruce 1-2, Double
  • Abby Ralston 1-2
  • Abby Fulton 1-2
  • Morgan Mahoney 1-2

We struggled defensively after resuming the game but we did get off the bus swinging the bats against a very good RS team.  We just couldn’t capitalize on them and their hitters were just too much for us tonight.  We’ll regroup and prepare for Switz, a potential sectional opponent.

We thank coach Ralston for his game information.
