*(SOC/JH-Sun) Rebels win Switz Middle School soccer tourney

Vevay-  Southwestern Middle School’s soccer team won the four-team Switzerland County Middle School Invitational Saturday in Vevay.  Jac-Cen-Del and Shawe Memorial also played.

The Rebels opened the tournament with a 7-1 win over Shawe.  The victory for Southwestern agenged and earlier 2-2 tie with the Hilltoppers.

Jacob Anderson and Adam Anderson each recorded a hat trick for the Rebels while Taylor Cole added the team’s other goal.  Nick Weatherbee had the lone goal for Shawe which was limited to three shots on frame by the Southwestern defense.

In the other first round game, Jac-Cen-Del and Switzerland County were scoreless through the first half.  Switz took advantage of some opportunities lost by JCD to score four times in the second half and won 4-0.

Shots taken by Jac-Cen-Del were Shianna Bellingham and Kobe Darnold with four each; Reis Troy and Blake Simon with two each along with one by Conner Hubbard, Dustin Meador, Trent Linville and Autumn Hammond.

In the consolation game, Jac-Cen-Del was down 1-0 early to Shawe but, despite a couple of injuries, came back to get the tying and go-ahead goals by Troy and Darnold to win 2-1.

Taking shots for the Eagles in this game were Darnold with seven, Troy with five, Bellingham with three followed by Hubbard with two and both Meador and Dylan Swinney with one.
