2020 Lawrenceburg Girls Tennis Outlook from Alisa McMullen

Prior to the start of any season, there is always an air of hope and optimism by coaches and players.  Unfortunately, that hope and optimism for the spring sports season was dashed for everyone with its cancellation due to COVID-19.

But we asked coaches to share with us what they were looking forward to: team outlook, individual hopes and expectations or anything else about the season in general.  We’ll be sharing those stories as we receive them and we appreciate those who took the time to send us their thoughts.

Lawrenceburg Girls Tennis coach Alisa McMullen- I had been looking forward to this team for the past two years. I had an amazing group of freshmen in 2018, then again in 2019 and some great freshmen this year. They were taking lessons, going to clinics and playing with friends at the Greendale courts during the off season.  It reminded me of my high school years when people loved to play this sport. This group of players respected the coaches and the sport. It’s been awhile since tennis at Lawrenceburg has had this kind of dedication.  They are a wonderful group of young women, hard-working, kind and fun.

Thankfully for us, we did not have even one senior on the team, so everyone will be able to return for their senior year as long as things are back to normal by then. I’m not trying to rush a year of my life by, but I’m really looking forward to spring 2021.
