The Lady Lions tennis team competed against Union County in their sectional on Wednesday and came away with a 3-2 win. At #3 singles, Flor Gonzalez steadily defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-1. At #1 doubles, Lexey Yager and Olivia Yager won in two quick sets 6-1, 6-2. The #2 doubles team of Katie Gamrat and Alexis Fenimore stepped up their game to take down their opponents 6-1, 6-1.

The team will next be in action on Friday as they take on the Franklin County Wildcats in the sectional final hosted in Connersville.

  • #1 Singles: Lily Stewart (FC) defeated Jayden Rose (C) 6-0, 6-0
  • #2 Singles: Taylor McCreary (FC) defeated Juliette Collins (C) 6-3, 6-0
  • #3 Singles: Maggie Brack (FC) defeated Abigail Stinger (C) 6-0, 6-0
  • #1 Doubles: Meredith Bohman/Allie Routh (FC) defeated Rylee Fuller/Kelsey Smith (C) 7-5, 6-3
  • #2 Doubles: Alexis Ball/Kairee Hodapp (FC) defeated Grace Silcott/Giovanna Struewing (C) 6-0, 6-4

Match comments from Connersville coach Chris Bloom: “The girls gave a great effort, but came up short. We made a lot of improvements this season and the girls worked hard. We are looking forward to a great offseason.”
