(VAR) East Central 10 (home), Rushville 0
EC 8-0 at half

Edited East Central recap from Michael Tiemann:  East Central hosted Rushville for an EIAC match on the turf in St. Leon. After a pregame ceremony to recognize the seniors, the match began with an EC goal in the second minute.  Midfielder Caitlyn Dick received a ball from senior Maggie McCord. About a minute later, senior defender Lily Crouse scored on a corner kick by Julia Tiemann. The third Trojan goal came in the fourth minute when senior midfielder Makenzie Vignale shot from outside the 18 after receiving a ball from Tiemann. In the sixth minute, Tiemann placed a headball into the net off a Dick corner kick increasing the Trojans lead to 4-0.

McCord registered the fifth Trojan goal in the seventh minute from just inside the 18 as Tiemann picked up her third assist of the game. The Trojans scored again in the 20th minute, when senior defender Hailey May played a one touch ball to senior defender Sophie Browndyke, increasing the lead to 6-0.  The combo reversed for the seventh goal, when May scored on a Browndyke ball in the 23rd minute. Then 10 minutes later, it was the same two players, as May scored off a headball from a Browndyke cross. The Trojans took a commanding lead of 8-0 into the halftime break.

Less than two minutes into the second half, the Trojans added their ninth goal by way of a PK for a handball in the box. Browndyke converted the kick. The 10th and final goal came in the 57th minute when defender Addyson Arnult placed a headball into the net off a Dick cross.  The 10-0 win improved EC to 10-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the EIAC.

Edited Rushville recap from coach Kallie Peterman: The Lady Lions were defeated by the Lady Trojans on the road 10-0. The combination of defensive line of Brooke Means, Izzy Wilson, Hannah Selby, Savannah Snow, Izzy Pavey, Kelley Stanley and Railyn Combs held East Central for nine offside calls. Keeper Mary Jo Seyfferle had 14 saves..

Tonight was a great night to get our younger girls some experience. By the end of the first half, I could really see a huge difference in some of our players’ confidence. Senior Kylee Macy had an awesome game tonight as well as our keeper Macy Jo Seyfferle. Despite the scoreboard, we had many small victories and I’m proud of the way our girls handle a challenge.

Rushville player comments:

Freshman Cheyann Lower: “I think that it was a good game to be able to learn more skills. I like how we stayed together as a team and didn’t break down. Even though we lost I am still very proud that we went out there and gave it our all.”

Freshman Brooke Means: “We fought hard. We started to see the triangles and cut off the passing paths to give the other team less shooting opportunities.”

Freshman Kelley Stanley: “We had very high leveled players running against us. We still managed to keep our heads up and play our hardest even though we could’ve very easily just given up. Instead, we stood our ground and fought for the ball.”

Senior Savanah Snow: “The girls were communicating well both on an off the field. Those who were not playing the game were keeping an eye out and a positive attitude. Our goalie was absolutely rocking it in the box!”

Senior Kylee Macy: “Even though we knew East Central was a hard team, we fought to the very end of the game. We never gave up, even if we were down. Players adapted to new positions tonight very well when they haven’t played that position before.”
