(VAR) South Dearborn 2, Franklin County 0 (home)
SD 2-0 at half

Edited South Dearborn recap from coach Jonathan Wismann: The Lady Knights traveled to Franklin County to take on the Wildcats. After getting off the bus with limited warmup time, the girls got right at it with senior Hailey Huber scoring the first goal just 34 seconds into the match. Then 25 minutes later, sophomore Marissa Womble sent a through ball for sophomore Bernadette Wismann to finish and the Knights took home a 2-0 victory.

Keepers freshman Taytum Barker and junior Natalie Rupp along with junior defender Brooklyn Ward all had saves in the shutout.

Edited Franklin County recap from coach Cindy Adams via AD Denny Dorrel: The Lady Wildcats played a tough game against conference rival South Dearborn and came up a bit short. Franklin County’s team defending started a touch slow, but once they settled in, it was an evenly matched game across the pitch from end to end. The Wildcats were tenacious, fast and efficient playing with integrity and grit.

True to previous years, South Dearborn was a physical and hard-nosed tackling team racking up 15 fouls compared to the Wildcats’ seven.

Offensive shot leaders: Jordan Nichols 2, Halee Barker, Erica Weaver and Madesyn Sunderhous.

The defensive back line was tough led by co-captains Claudia Mauntel and Maddie Merritt. Merritt was named our Player of the Match.  The defensive rookies of Paige Ashcraft, Audrey Weaver and Mackenzie Brzezinksi were solid, tough and flexed some good 1-v-1 and team defending skills.  Maegan Pearson had 14 saves with another 11 balls she scooped within the box. The junior goalkeeper had her third double digit save match this season.

More recaps follow.
