Batesville coach Kyle Laker:  Thw Lady Bulldogs were defeated by No. 1 ranked Brebeuf 4-0 in the opening game of IHSAA 2A Regional 7 at Brebeuf.  Batesville finished the season 11-7-1.

Batesville junior goalkeeper Olive Cerniglia finished the match with 16 saves. The Bulldog’s best chance of the first half came as Ashley Nobbe crossed a ball in from the right wing and senior forward Carlie Werner took a full-volley shot that rocketed off the crossbar.

After 28 minutes of strong, defensive scoreless play, the Lady Braves scored the game’s first goal with 12:22 remaining in the first half when freshman Mia Winters scored off a throw in from senior Melanie Marshall to give Brebeuf a 1-0 lead.

At halftime, Batesville made a few lineup adjustments to generate more offensive chances in the second half. After Batesville had several shots on goal in the first few minutes of the half, the Braves added to their lead during a counterattack as senior Sophie Weeter scored off an assist by Paige Edens. Weeter scored again at the 7:53 mark off an assist from junior Courtney Kelley. Senior Annie Sherman recorded the final goal of the match with less than a minute to go.

The Batesville seniors finished their career with a record of 56-17-1 and three sectional championships.
