South Ripley 3, Southwestern 2

Varsity Girls Soccer at South Ripley- Thursday, September 5

South Ripley 3, Southwestern 2

SR  2  1 – 3
SW 0  2 – 2

Southwestern coach Nancy Totten: Before the game, Jennings County’s girls soccer team arrived and all three teams joined in honoring and bringing awareness to the fight for a cure for pediatric cancer. In this honor, we all wore yellow shoe laces. Jennings County began this quest and asked South Ripley to join.  South Ripley, in turn, asked us.

Afterwards we played, Our first half like was much like our last 2 games and we were down 2-0 at half.  South Ripley’s first goal was on a penalty kick due to a hand ball in the box. The second was a high ball over our goalie’s hands.

The second half proved very exciting for all.  Susi Bajraktari scored for us within two minutes. South Ripley answered shortly afterwards. We scored again about 10 minutes in when Susi crossed the ball in front of the goal and Cadence Humes put in a nice shot.  We lost 3-2 but were energized by the return of our game and team spirit.

South Ripley scoring:

  • Goals- Taylor Brison, Cennegen Snelling and Alex Miller
  • Assists- Mariah Brison and Olivia Kavanaugh
