Batesville’s Emma Weiler 11th at state finals

Girls Golf State Finals Recap at Prairie View Golf Course in Carmel ending Saturday, October 3.

On Friday and Saturday, Batesville’s Emma Weiler made her second appearance in the IHSAA Girls Golf State Championship meet held at Carmel’s Prairie View Golf Course. Weiler and coach Tom Meyer are shown in the provided photo.

After the first 18 holes Friday, the BHS sophomore shot 77 and was in a tie for 10th place, just four strokes off the lead.  On Saturday, Weiler shot an 80 for a two-day total of 157 which placed her 11th.

As a freshman, Weiler finished tied for 42nd with a 171.  She bettered her 2019 score by 14 strokes.

The Indiana High School Girls’ Golf Coaches Association selected Weiler to the All-State Team for a second straight year.  The All-State Team includes the top 10 finishers at the state meet and the top 10 golfers from throughout the year.

Evansville North won the 2020 team championship with a 625 edging Homestead by three strokes (628).  Host Carmel was third with a total of 635.

The individual state champion was Lapel’s Macy Beeson who posted a (+2) 146. Carmel’s Michaela Headlee and Evansville North’s Chloe Johnson followed with 1 147 and 148 respectively.
