Batesville’s Emma Weiler Earns All-State

In addition to making the IHSAA Girls’ Golf State Finals as a freshman, Batesville’s Emma Weiler was one of 20 individuals who earned All-State honors for 2019.  Unlike all-state selections for other sports where voting takes place or where recognition is earned by placing at a certain level in the state finals, Girls’ Golf All-State is based on a season-long point system and order of finish at the state finals as Batesville coach Tom Meyer explains.

“For each tournament during the season, you earn so many points based on where you finish and how many players competed,” said Meyer.  “At the end of the season, the top 20 individuals in points earned are listed.  But the second part is the state finals.  Any individual who was not among the top 20 in points but places in the top 10 at the state finals, automatically receives All-State and knocks out whomever was at the bottom of the top 20 in points.  The state finals’ top 10 and remaining top players from the point system make up the 20 members of the All-State Team.  Emma finished 10th in points, so she automatically made the team.”

We thank coach Meyer for the All-State information.
