Season ends for all local regional qualifiers

Three local teams and a handful of local individuals played their final rounds of the season at the IHSAA girls’ golf regionals held Saturday, September 22.

At the Lapel Regional played at Edgewood Golf Course in Anderson, Greensburg finished fourth, just outside of the top three places for state qualifying teams.  The Pirates collectively shot 353, Hamilton Southeastern was third with 337, Richmond second with 336 and Columbus North was the champion with 333.  Franklin County was the other local team at Lapel.  The Wildcats placed 11th with 373 points.

The individual regional champion was Chatard’s Maggie Schaffer who shot 71.

Greensburg individual scores included: Claire Dennett 84, Ellie Acra 85, Kennedy McCullough 90, Rachel Nobbe 94 and Maddy Wickens 97.

Franklin County results were: Maggie Brack 89, Camryn Brewer 89, Abby Orschell 97, Gracie Graf 98 and Camryn Brewer 112 (personal best).

Competeing as individuals were Batesville’s Meredith McCreary with 81 and Rushville’s Madyson Carmony with 88.

At the Roncalli Regional held at Smock Golf Course in Indianapolis, Southwestern placed 17th with 421 at its first-ever girls golf regional.  Carmel won with 314 and was followed by fellow state qualifiers Zionsville with 318 and Guerin Cathlolic with 327.

Westfield’s Jocelyn Bruch was the individual champ with a 73.

Southwestern individual efforts included: Belle Crawford 101, Ellie Foley 104, Kristin Consley 105, Bella Marcum 11 and Adalyn Leach 128.

Shawe’s Katie Hertz competed as an individual and posted 99.
