(webcast) Lawrenceburg 54, Switzerland Co. 30- Rivertown Championship

Aurora- Lawrenceburg’s Lady Tigers made Rivertown Classic tournament history Friday.  With their 54-30 victory over Switzerland County, the LHS ladies became the first program, girls or boys, to win five consecutive championships.  Tiger boss Zane White also set the same record as a head coach.

This game was part of our St. Elizabeth Dearborn Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

It was a dominating defensive performance by Lawrenceburg which stifled and frustrated coach Mark Boggs’ Pacers all night.  It seems a bit odd to say that when you look at the turnover stats, because the Tigers actually committed 10 more turnovers.

However, the Lawrenceburg defense minimized the damage of those miscues and did not allow Switz to get into any type of rhythm.  The Pacers had very few second chance opportunities as the Tigers enjoyed a 43-16 advantage on the glass.  SwitzCo also struggled to get clean shooting looks making just 26 percent from the field while the Tigers converted 50 percent.

LHS never trailed and was up 10-5 at the end of the first quarter.  The game swung in full favor of the now five-time champs with a 19-4 second quarter which included a 15-0 run.  It was 29-9 at the half.

Story continues.
