(webcast) South Dearborn 51, Rising Sun 37- Rivertown Consolation

Aurora- South Dearborn’s Lady Knights recorded their first win of the season, 51-37, over Rising Sun in Friday’s consolation round of the Rivertown Classic.

This game was part of our St. Elizabeth Dearborn Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

Coach Darryl Gibbs’ defense turned the Shiners over 36 times while the SD offense limited their miscues to 22, 10 below their season average.

Greatly understaffed for a second straight night, coach Abby Friend’s Sun bunch were missing three starters and three subs.  Maddi Wilson tried to keep her team in it, but her 21 points and 11 rebounds weren’t enough.

Wilson scored all eight of Rising Sun’s points in the first quarter but RS trailed the tournament hosts 9-8.  Rising Sun got additional scoring from Nora Powell and Halley Shorten in the second quarter to help give the visitors a 20-19 lead at the half.

But the Knights put the pieces to the puzzle together in the second half, outscoring the Shiners 16-8 in the third to go up 35-28.  Bernadette Wismann led the way with seven period points for the Dragon’s Den dwellers.  THen SD’s Zoe Ross helped put the game away in the fourth frame with nine points as the Knights went on to win 51-37.
