(webcast) Switzerland County 57, Rising Sun 23- Rivertown Round 1

Aurora- Switzerland County will get a girls’ Rivertown Classic title game rematch with defending champion Lawrenceburg.  The Lady Pacers defeated a depleted Rising Sun squad 57-23 during Wednesday’s first round game at South Dearborn.

This game was part of our St. Elizabeth Dearborn Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

As was the case when Switz (10-2) hosted Rising Sun (2-9) in November, coach Mark Boggs’ Pacers steadily pulled away from coach Abby Friends’ Shiners building leads of seven, 15 and 31 points at the end of the first three stops.

Rising Sun was facing an uphill battle to begin with against a good Switz team.  But the task became nearly insurmountable when the Shiners had to take the floor without three starters and three subs.

Wednesday’s second first-round game mirrored the first in that the Pacers enjoyed sizeable advantages in offensive rebounding, 18-5, and turnovers forcing 24 while committing 15. As a result, Switz took 20 more shots and won comfortably.

Our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Player of the Game was Switzerland County’s Maddie Duvall who had a game-high 19 points plus a quartet each of rebounds, assists and steals.

Sister Jessie Duvall had a good night as well with 14 points, five boards, four dishes and two swipes.  Teammate Kierstan Oeffinger turned in eight points, three assists, three caroms and two takeaways.

For Rising Sun, Maddi Wilson recorded a near double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.  Nora Powell was inserted into one of the three vacant starting spots.  She finished with four points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Story continues.
