The early-season pairing of Thursday’s top-15 teams and Sectional 14 opponents lived up to its billing.  Coach Danny Brown’s Lady Olympians led for all of the first quarter less a brief 8-7 edge by EC.  It was 14-13 at the end of one.

Koryn Greiwe had five points with one three pointer for Columbus East.  Teammate Emma Jenkins scored four and Allison Craig made one from beyond the arc for three points.

East Central’s Josie Trabel netted six points in the period while Emma Ertel and Hope Fox followed with four and three respectively.

An early deuce by coach Kevin Moore’s Lady Trojans gave the visitors, again, a brief lead of 15-14.  But the first if five triples in the period by the Olympians quickly put the home team back on top for the remainder of the half.  At one point, Columbus East led 30-23 but East Central rallied to trail just 33-32 at intermission.

Maeleigh Roberts did most of the damage in the second quarter for the Olympians dropping in three bombs for nine points.  Heidi Murphy and Kaitlyn Carothers hit the other two deep shoots.  Murphy also hit a field goal for five points.

Fox countered with a couple of threes herself while Trabel continued her inside attack and picked up seven more points to give her a game-high 13 at the break.
