Jac-Cen-Del 53, Morristown 45; 1A-60 Semis (SEILS Webcast)

Waldron-  After enjoying an opening round bye on Tuesday night, the 11-time defending 1A-60 sectional champion Lady Eagles took to the floor for the first time at Waldron Friday.  Jac-Cen-Del defeated a very determined swarm of Yellow Jackets from Morristown, 53-45.

This game was part of our Highpoint Health Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

Coach Rachel Kleine’s Jackets were very quick and very aggressive.  Those two attributes kept them in the game throughout the night.  Morristown had a 6-3 lead early but trailed 13-11 at the end of the first quarter.

Even at 13 early in the second period, coach Scott Smith’s Eagles scored seven straight to go up 20-13 and establish a lead they never relinquished.  JCD held a 28-25 advantage at halftime thanks in large part to 13 points from Paige Ledford.  Reagan Kleine booked seven points to head Morristown in scoring through the first 16 minutes.

Motown got within one early in third, 32-31, but the Osgood gals went on a 9-0 run to push their lead to 41-31. The Jackets got back within three early in the fourth but another burst by the Eagles provided enough separation to secure the 53-45 victory.

Our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Player of the Game was Jac-Cen-Del’s Paige Ledford.  The junior dialed up a double double with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Also for the Eagles, Kadee Kuhn posted eight points, six rebounds and three steals.  Anna Hubbard had six points, seven boards and two blocks while Annabelle Williams also scored six points plus contributed four caroms and four assists.

For Morristown, Macie Coates’ 14 points led the way while Rylee Kleine and Emma Theobold followed with 12 and 10 respectively. Coates also collected seven rebounds, three steals and three blocks while Kleine carded four boards, four dishes and four swipes.
