Greensburg 58, Rushville 50; 3A-29 Round 1 (SEILS Webcast)

Aurora-  Two time defending 3A-29 sectional champion Greensburg opened the 2020 tournament with a 58-50 win over Rushville.

Coach Jason Simpson’s Pirates led from first bucket to final horn including quarter leads of 13-5, 26-13 and 33-22.

Down 16 early in the third, coach Melissa Marlow’s Lions scored nine straight to get within 29-22, but Greensburg finished the frame up 11 and went on to win by eight.

Our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Players of the Game were the Pirates’ Melina Wilkison and Aliyah Evans who scored 16 and 11 points respectively.

The Morrison sisters, Rose and Micha both posted 10 points as GCHS saw four players reach double figures in scoring.

Annika Marlow’s 12 points led Rushville while teammates Tori Campbell and Olivia Yager netted 11 each.

While Greensburg had a 27-16 advantage in rebounds, the Pirates simply shot a little bit better.  GCHS 20 of 39 from the field for 51 percent while RCHS hit 17 of 40 for 43 percent.
