North Decatur 47, Southwestern 36; 2A-45 Round 1 (SEILS Webcast)

Vevay-  North Decatur avenged a one-point loss at Southwestern Hanover earlier this season as the Lady Chargers defeated the Lady Rebels 47-36 during Tuesday’s first round of the 2A-45 Sectional at Switzerland County.

This game was part of our Highpoint Health Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

Coach Matt Barker’s Chargers never trailed and were tied only once (2-2).  ND led 16-6, 23-16 and 31-18 at the end of first three stops.

The best run for coach Devin Brierly’s Rebels was in the second quarter. Down 14, the Hanover ladies cut the deficit in half by intermission.  However, the effort was negated in the third quarter when North outscored Southwestern 9-2.

North Decatur’s Olivia Bohman was our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Player of the Game.  The senior had an outstanding night with 18 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Teammate Haley Gorrell followed with 12 points and pulled down eight boards.  Morgan Stanley added nine points, five caroms and three steals.  For Southwestern, Bella Marcum and Ellie Foley scored 12 and 11 respectively.  Marcum also had four steals to lead the team. Izzy Brooks was the club’s top rebounder with 11 and scored four points.

North Decatur’s biggest advantage was rebounding, 38-22, which included a 19-7 edge on the offensive end.
