This game was part of our Highpoint Health Basketball Webcast Schedule and can be seen again in HD by clicking here.

Rushville coach Melissa Marlow saw her club hold Batesville to just five points over the second and third quarters.  The suffocating defense also helped generate 41 points on the Lions’ offensive end.

Coach Bryan Helvie’s Bulldogs played a great first quarter and trailed a significantly, statistically favored Rushville squad by only five at the stop, 22-17.  Olivia Yager scored seven for the Lions while teammate Maddi Turner and the Dogs’ Macy Prickel both put in six.

The second quarter featured a 19-0 run for RCHS while the third saw the visitors string together 16 straight.  With eight minutes remaining, Rushville led 63-22.

During those two quarters, Annika Marlow sank a trio of triples plus two free throw for 11 points. Fellow Lion Tori Campbell carded 10 points while Briley Munchel hit a pair of treys and two tosses for eight points.  The Bulldogs’ five points over the same 16-minute span came on a trifecta by Catherine Raab and two freebies via Makayla Granger-Young.

As the fourth quarter played out, both Jaeda Miller of Rushville and Bre Wells of Batesville bagged four points.

Our Southeastern Indiana REMC Power Player of the Game was actually a team award.  We acknowledged the Rushville defense for its dynamic performance as it forced many of Batesville’s 24 turnovers.  The Lions had only five miscues.

Marlow led all scorers in the Lions win with 16 points.  She was followed by Campbell with 12 and Munchel with 10.  Granger-Young and Prickel netted six each for Batesville.

As a team, Rushville converted 16 of 17 free throws for 94 percent.  The Lions also outrebounded the Bulldogs 32-18.
