While the games between Switz and Milan have been very close recently (with an average margin of four points over the last three meetings), the Pacers continued their dominance in the series.  Friday’s victory was the 26th in 27 games against their Ripley County opponent since 2000.  The Indians only victory in that run was in 2016.

Three-point shooting by Maddie Duvall helped the Pacers to a 9-4 lead after one quarter. She knocked down two triples in the quarter and later struck from long distance twice more.

For Milan, Lauren Roell scored the team’s first 10 points. In fact, her personal 6-0 run to begin the second stanza gave coach Bob Bressert’s Indians a brief 10-9 lead.  The two ORVC clubs traded advantages three more times, but it was Switz again in front at halftime, 18-16.

Roell’s 10 points and the nine from Maddie Duvall led their respective squads.  The Vevay ladies outscored the Milan gals 9-0 from the arc, a strength which also led Switzerland County to an overtime victory in Milan back in November.

There were no lead changes in the third quarter but the score was tied twice, including 25-all at the stop. CiCi Bailey bucketed six points for the Tribe and Aleiah Thomas netted four points for the Swiss.

While the final margin in this semifinal was seven points, the fourth quarter yielded six lead changes before then.  Early in the frame, coach Mark Boggs’ Pacers got to the line by creating opportunities.  Later in the stanza, they were sent to the line when the Indians were forced to foul.  In all, Switzerland County made 11 of 12 charity tosses over the final eight minutes.  Thomas sank 9 of 10 while Rylee Hankins made both of her attempts.  Lexi Lay also produced the team’s fifth trifecta.
