(webcast) Franklin County 41, Batesville 0

Brookville- The Franklin County Wildcats amassed over 500 yards of total offense on Friday as they rolled to a 41-0 win over the visiting Batesville Bulldogs.  Both Hunter Tscheann and Bridger Bolos surpassed the 100-yard mark on the ground with each finding the end zone once.  Meanwhile, Sam Westerfeld led the defensive effort with three sacks on the night.

A penalty on the opening kickoff forced FC to start from its own 15-yard line.  It did not deter the Wildcat offense as they marched 85 yards on only five plays, all on the ground, for the game’s opening score.  Tschaenn and Bolos ripped off consecutive 10-yard runs to open the drive.  Tschaenn ran for 37 to put the Cats in Batesville territory.  Bolos did him one better on the next play, rushing for 38 and the score.  Quarterback Adam Kelly, as a kicker, added the point after to make it 7-0 Cats.

After the teams traded punts, the Brookville boys found the end zone again.  Starting at their own 48, the Wildcats moved 52 yards in only six plays to increase their lead.  Kelly connected with Bolos for 16 yards to give the hosts a 1st and 10 at the Bulldog 21.  Tschaenn took care of the rest, going 21 yards for the TD.  Kelly’s point after made it 14-0.

The Wildcats Kaden Erfman recovered a Batesville fumble to give the ball back to the FC offense at its own 44.  The Cats quickly moved down the field but fumbled themselves.  The Bulldogs Luke Wilson recovered the ball at the Batesville 5.

A facemask penalty on the Wildcats gave the Batesville offense some life on the ensuing possession.  But Westerfeld reversed the fortune of the Bulldogs when he sacked the Batesville QB for a 10-yard loss. Batesville soon punted and Franklin County had a final possession with less than three minutes remaining in the first half.
