Batesville-  It was a 12-12 tie at halftime of the 3A Sectional 31 Semifinal at Batesville Friday.  But the second half was all Greensburg as the Pirates pitched a 24-0 shutout and won 36-12.

GCHS quarterback Toby Brogan scored all five of the Pirates’ touchdowns.  Each was on the ground as the junior rushed for 163 yards on 29 carries.

Brogan only completed two of six passes but both receptions were for substantial gains.  Adam Koester’s catch went for 63 yards while Corbin Mathews’ was good for 28.

Greensburg back Jalen Woods quietly had a good night rushing 20 times for 120 yards.  Kicker Ben Bausback hit a third quarter field goal from 22 yards out.

Defensively for the Pirates, Robbie Lorenz and Jacob Evans led the team with eight total tackles.  Lorenz had two tackles behind the line of scrimmage while Evans had one.  Cole Nobbe and Mathews also recorded a TFL.  Koester recovered a fumble.

For Batesville, Travis Lecher and Austin Pohlman each had a rushing touchdown in the first half. Additional Batesville details will be added when they become available.

We thank Greensburg coach Scott Moore for the Pirates’ offensive stats and live broadcast reports confirming those who scored for Batesville.
