Act Of Kidness To Help An Athlete In Need

On Sunday, Lawrenceburg football head coach Ryan Knigga, assistant coach Ki Yoon and a few Tiger players paid a visit to Switzerland County football head coach Ryan Jesop and members of his football team.  No, it wasn’t for off season 7-on-7 drills.

In the fall of 2017, Switzerland County football player Colton Schirmer suffered a severe spinal cord injury in his very first varsity football game as a freshman.  The Tigers delivered a hospital bed to the Pacers who completed the delivery and setup at Colton’s home.

The bed was donated by the family of Justin Blackburn of Lawrenceburg.  Justin used the bed to take care of his father. His greatest wish was the bed could be used again to comfort and ease the burden of another in need.

Wish granted and mission accomplished.

Kudos to the Tiger and Pacer football programs and the Blackburn family for their wonderful act of kindness.  We join them in wishing Colton the very best in his continued progress and recovery.

We thank Lori Blackburn and coach Jesop for the information used in this story.
