Boys- Batesville 26, Greensburg 33, South Decatur 73, North Decatur 115
Girls- Batesville 17, Greensburg 41, North Decatur 81

Edited Batesville recap from coach Lisa Gausman- Congratulations to both the boys and the girls Batesville cross country teams who came out victorious at the 4-way meet against host Greensburg, South Decatur and North Decatur.

The boys won with a score of 26 points to Greensburg’s 33. South Decatur was third with 73 and North Decatur had 115.  Batesville’s Ean Loichinger was the overall winner with a time of 17:24. He was followed closely by teammate Benjamin Moster placing 2nd. Will Nuhring was 4th, Eli Loichinger and Jake Chapman came in 9th and 10th respectively, Tyler Bedel took 20th, Ben Adams placed 25th and Sean Callahan was 27th.

The girls were close to a perfect score with a low 17 points. Greensburg was 2nd with 41 followed by North Decatur with 81. Batesville’s Kaylynn Bedel led the way with a winning time of 21:24. Lily Pinckley was close behind her in 2nd with Maria Lopez just behind her in 3rd. Megan Allgeier and Sophie Myers crossed the line 5th and 6th then Madison Rahschulte and Katie Olsen finished 11th and 12th.  A nice group of Batesville runners followed led by Jen Dodge, Isabel Raab, Ella Moster, Sarah Ripperger, Jada Eisert and Alyssa Linville coming in 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th and 26th respectively. Congratulations Bulldogs!

Edited Greensburg recap from coach Troy Davis-  Greensburg hosted Batesville, North Decatur and South Decatur in their first cross country meet of the 2021 season. Batesville won the boys’ race with 26 points. Ean Loichinger was the individual champion in 17:24.

Jake Hawkins paced the Pirates taking third in a time of 18:57. Seniors Sawyer Sanders and Kole Stephens came in 5th and 6th overall, respectively. Freshman Paxton Harris finished his first high school race in 20:06 to take 8th overall. Cameron Schwartz was 11th place in 20:24 with junior Nate Murray placed 12th in 20:44. Other finishers for the Pirates included TJ Gorman (14th), Bryant Merritt (15th), Skylar Westerfeld (16th), Carson McCord (17th), Chase Tekulve (19th), Caleb Berkemeier (26th), and Robert Browning (31st).

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Bulldogs won with 17 points. Batesville’s Kaylynn Bedel won the race in 21:24.

Emily Mangels was the top finishers for Greensburg. She came in 4th overall with a time of 22:23. Freshman Tori Gauck was the next finisher for Greensburg. She placed 7th with a time 22:59. Tiffani Gramman crossed the finish line in 8th overall in 23:36. Hannah Crowell took 9th in 24:36. Other finishers for the Lady Pirates were Malana Kramer (13th), Olivia Evans (15th), Sophie Nobbe (16th), Ally Foster (17th), Kylee Simpson (25th), and Allison Kunze (31st).
