Edited recap from Batesville coach Lisa Gausman- Batesville opened its 2021 season Saturday, leaving just before the sun rose, heading to a huge invitational hosted by Terre Haute South at the state course. The Bulldogs definitely didn’t ease into the season as they competed against almost 300 individuals and 30 different teams.  About half of the teams came from 5A schools.

Even though the first race was at 9 am, the humidity and temps were high and uncomfortable. Batesville really fought through the challenging 5k with the boys placing 16th and the girls 11th. The boys were led by Benjamin Moster coming in 26th overall, followed by Ean Loichinger 56th, Daren Smith 95th, Kyler Daulton 141st, Jake Chapman 168th, Will Nuhring 174th and Isaac Trossman finishing out the top 7 at 181st.

The girls were led by freshman Kaylynn Bedel who ran an incredible race and crossed in 10th place at an impressive 20:05. Maria Lopez was next for the Dogs in 44th and followed closely by Megan Allgeier at 46th. Sophie Myers was next 99th, Lily Pinckley and Madison Rahschulte at 162nd and 166th respectively. Finishing out the top 7 was Ella Moster in 213th.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
