At Franklin County

Edited meet report from Franklin County coach Stacey Nobbe: The Wildcats competed against Oldenburg Academy on their home course. For the Franklin County boys, senior Drew Grant finished second. His time of 19:31 was only 11 seconds behind Oldenburg Academy’s Tyler Kuntz. FCHS captured the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Ben Maze was only 7 seconds behind Drew for 3rd place, and Hunter Marshall secured 4th following by only 4 seconds. Junior Adam Grant had a season PR of 21:01.

For the Lady Wildcats, senior Lauren Kelley finished in first place with a time of 22:13. Junior Katherine Apsley was the next with a time of 27:24. The Wildcat home course is a difficult course so none of the Lady Wildcats were able to record a personal best.

At Greensburg

Edited meet report from Greensburg coach Troy Davis:  The Greenburg Cross Country teams won on Senior Night defeating Hauser and South Decatur.  In the girls’ competition, Brenner Hanna led from start to finish crossing the finish line in 20:35 for the victory. Emily Mangels and Liz Pavy pushed each other over the entire course and placed 2nd and 3rd respectively in a time of 22:57. Senior Olivia Colson placed 4th overall in 24:17.  Sophie Nobbe used a strong finish to earn 7th in a time of 26:03.  Senior Emma Wilmer was 9th in 26:24, and sophomore Sarah Stapp placed 10th in her first high school 5 km race with a time of 26:29.  Other finishers for Greensburg included Malana Kramer (11th), Franchesca Verzo (12th), Ally Foster (14th), and Kylee Simpson (21st).

The boys team also beat Hauser and South Decatur.  Kole Stephens ran his fastest race of the season and placed 2nd overall in 18:59.  Junior Sawyer Sanders finished 3rd in 19:00. Jake Hawkins crossed the finish line in 5th with a time of 20:05.  Nate Murray came in 6th overall in 20:08. Sophomore Bryant Merritt ran his best time of 2020 for 7th place in 20:26.  Skylar Westerfeld was next in 8th with a time of 20:34.  Other Pirate finishers included Hayden Butz (11th), Cameron Schwartz (13th), Vaughn Verzo (14th), Caleb Berkemeier (18th), Jake Taylor (20th), Wyatt Clifford (21st) and Kalob Williams (26th).
