Franklin County girls, East Central boys win duals

Varsity Cross Country at Franklin County- Thursday, September 5

Girls- Franklin County 15, East Central 50

Boys- East Central 17, Franklin County 44

Franklin County coach Stacey Nobbe- The Franklin County girls finished the East Central meet with faster times across the board.  Junior Lauren Kelley, won the meet in 21:51 with a comfortable lead. She seems to only have one speed and that is fast. Senior Katelyn Meyer, finished in 23:02. She fought for her spot throughout the whole race, sprinting into the chute to edge out Rachel Davis, from East Central, for 4th place.

Junior Josie Selm, looked great as she maintained even splits in the second and third miles. Sophomore, Katherine Selm finished 8th for the Wildcats, and Kenzie Rogers rounded out the Franklin County team with a huge improvement for her season. She has already improved by 10 minutes this year.

The Franklin County boys ran competitively made an impressive showing, but could not gain the top spots in the race.  They are collectively getting faster and more comfortable in their competitions.

Sophomore Ben Maze was the only runner to break into the top five, just missing the 3rd place spot by 3 seconds. He placed 4th with 19:01. He’s less than 10 seconds from a career PR.  Junior Drew Grant, finished 7th in 19:30. Freshman Harmon Marshall surged forward in the race, just behind Hunter Marshall. They finished 9th and 10 respectively with only 7 seconds separating them. Senior Harvey Marshall finished in 14th place, and his time of 21:43 was almost a minute faster than when he ran on the same course two days prior.

Senior, Kyle Seibert, seems to be making a comeback. He’s knocking minutes off of his early season times. Adam Grant is also getting faster each meet after recovering from an injury.

East Central top girls: Rachel Campbell 2nd, Emilee Wedding 3rd, Riley Davis 5th and Hannah Doan 6th.

East Central top boys: Griffin Werner 1st, Michael Schwebach 2nd and Anders Fox 3rd.

We thank coach Nobbe and East Central Cross Country via Twitter for the meet info.
