Greensburg boys, girls defeat Hauser and South Decatur

Varsity Cross Country at Greensburg- Tuesday, September 3

Greensburg wins boys and girls meets against Hauser and South Decatur.

Greensburg coach Troy Davis:  The Pirates hosted Hauser and South Decatur in a triangular meet. In the boys’ race for Greensburg, Jonathon Ralston took the lead just after the 3 km mark and raced to his first career win. Ralston crossed the finish line in 18:48 pacing the Pirates to the victory with 19 points. Hunter Butz took 3rd in 19:28. Sophomore Kole Stephens placed 4th in 19:41. Sawyer Sanders was 5th in 19:46, and Andrew Johnson came in 6th in 19:55.

Nate Murray (7th) and Sean Slagle (10th) were also in the top ten. Other Greensburg finishers included Skylar Westerfeld (13th), Bryant Merritt (14th), Matthew Myer (16th), Hayden Butz (17th), Caden Workman (18th), Vaughn Verzo (19th), Jaxson Kramer (21st), Robert Browning (27th), and Jeremiah Cohee (32nd). The Pirates improved their record to 14-8.

The Lady Pirates also defeated South Decatur and Hauser and had a perfect score of 15 points.  Brenner Hanna won her fourth race in row running the 5 km in 20:04. Liz Pavy was 2nd in 21:33. Emily Mangels took 3rd in 21:59. Mollie Pumphrey was 4th in 25:11. Emma Wilmer placed 5th with a time of 25:23.

Sophie Nobbe came in 7th. Olivia Colson finished 8th, and Alyssa Willard took 9th. Other Greensburg finishers included Sarah Santiago (11th), Charlotte Anderson (13th), Molly Brandes (14th), Kylee Simpson (15th), and Sophie Taylor (23rd). The girls have a record of 18-5 after four races this season.
