Boys Tennis Recaps from Wednesday, August 25

There may be updates, so please check back.

Connersville 4 (home), Richmond 1

Edited Connersville recap from coach Chris Bloom- The Spartans grinded out a big win against Richmond 4-1. We played some steady tennis and took advantage of our strengths as the match went on.

Gage played a strong match and won in three sets, fighting through some very tense moments. Rylee battled at 2 singles but came up short. We seemed to lose our momentum early in the second set, but battled to make it interesting. James played strong at 3 singles and looked steady the entire match.

Dustin and Logen played very well at 1 doubles and showed their experience. They are becoming an exciting match to watch, especially when they are setting each other up for put away volleys. The 2 doubles duo of Luke and Kolton are starting to mesh well. They are getting through tight moments and doing it with poise and starting to form an identity of how they want to play together.

Varsity matches:

  • 1 singles- Gage Brown (CO) defeated Jaden Hollingsworth (RI) 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2)

  • 3 singles- James Williams (CO) defeated Ethan Farrar (RI) 6-1, 6-3

Milan 5, South Dearborn 0 (home)

Edited South Dearborn recap from coach Claudia Miller- The Knights may have lost to Milan in their first match of the season, but not without giving it everything they had. These young freshmen have learned so much in such a short time and refused to give up. Our Sportsmanship Award went to Cole Armbruster, 3rd Singles, for exhibiting exemplary sportsmanship on the courts. Our Mental Toughness Award went to Braxton Tanner for never giving up and continuing to dig deep when playing a senior at 1st singles.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
