Sectional 27 final- Greensburg 4, Southwestern 1; Pirates win 9th straight

Varsity Boys Tennis, Sectional 27 championship at Jennings County- Saturday, October 5

Greensburg 4, Southwestern 1

Greeensburg coach Collin Rigney: Greensburg defeated Southwestern Hanover 4-1 to capture its 9th straight sectional title. Brett Stringer and Charlie Pumphrey at 1 and 3 singles were first off the court by winning in dominating fashion. Brett won 6-0, 6-1 over Landon DeAtley and Charlie won 6-1, 6-1 over Mason Lichlyter.  Abe Tebbe and Bryce Stringer won at 2 doubles 6-2, 6-1 over Carter Harmon and Derrick Osborn and have been playing great tennis. Ben Duerstock and Sam Bower gutted out a tough win at number 1 doubles 7-5, 6-2 over Foster Mefford and Zach Cole. I am very proud of everyone on the team and we hope to continue to play well into the regional against Seymour.

Southwestern’s lone victory was at 2 singles by Jordan DeAtley over Isaac Tebbe.

We thank coach Rigney for the match report.
