Coach Shields: We were looking to bounce back against Milan after losing a close game against Shawe. However, the game did not start off in the favor of the Rebels. Milan scored at the second minute of the game with a mishandling of the ball with a drop pass from one of our defenders to our goalkeeper. A clear was attempted by our goalkeeper Stockdale which ricocheted off of a surging Milan offensive player for the first goal of the game. The second goal also came from Milan at the 18th minute mark from a bad ball that bounced around the defense that resulted in a volley that went over the head of Stockdale as he came out to grab the ball. At halftime, Milan was up 2 to 0. However, the scoreboard did not reflect the play on the field. The Rebels only allowed three shots, unfortunately two of them were for goals. The Rebels took 11 shots which seven of those were on goal. At halftime, I told my players if we cleaned up some of our passes and have better communication, we will be in good shape to make a comeback. The first goal for the Rebels came at the 8th minute mark of the second half from a corner kick by Brandon Smith to Salvador Hernandez Perez for the goal. The score remained 2 to 1 in the favor of Milan until Matt Mingione (assisted by Brandon Smith) scored a deep shot that went over the head of their goalkeeper to tie the game with about 6 minutes remaining. Shots continued to fly for the Rebels, and with less than 2 minutes remaining, Brandon Smith was able to dribble down near the 6 yard box for a close range shot that proved to give the Rebels the victory! The Rebels went on to take 34 shots with 17 on goal for the game. The amount of shots we took is something I have been waiting for the entire season. I would have liked to get a few more in the back of the net, but this was a great start to what we have been working towards.

We thank everyone who contributed to the recaps.
